Description

This is an Art Deco era ring that is breathtaking in its design and quality.  We're enamoured by the design, quality and craftsmanship of this ring!

A stunning three stone Burmese Ruby and White Diamond inspired Art Deco ring in a handcrafted in a warm 18 carat yellow Gold.

The North-South setting of this Art Deco inspire Art Deco cocktail ring gives it distinctive flair.

A trio of rich cherry red round cut Rubies cascades down the center in a collet set mille grain gallery.

An additional thirty round full cut dazzling Diamonds which are beautifully miligrain set throughout showcases the trio of Rubies in a truly stunning setting which was very typical in jewellery made in the 1920's.

The shoulders are set with a further 8 Diamonds which gives the ring that extra sparkle.

The Diamonds weigh a total of 1.30 carat.

The Diamonds sparkle and glisten continuously captivating the allure of natures beauty.

To the reverse the Diamonds and Rubies are set in open backed settings, this allows the light to shine through for that extra sparkle.

Rubies mined in Burma have long been held as the absolute ideal in terms of colour for a Ruby, they are an exceptionally beautiful rich deep red with neither too  much brown nor pink in it. The term ‘pigeon’s blood’ has historically been used in an attempt to define this colour that is found in the best examples produced by
this region.

The Mogok Valley in Upper Burma (now known as Myanmar) has been the world’s primary ruby source for centuries and the origins of the mines are swathed
in mystery and legend.

What is certain is that references to these gems have been found dating back to the Shan Dynasty in the 6th Century.

The mines were taken over by the King of Burma in 1597 and all Rubies over a certain size had to be given to him on discovery rather than sold.

Today there are many different mines in the area both privately owned and government run.

New deposits were found in the Mong Hsu area of the country in the 1990’s and more recently a new source has been discovered in the northern region of Namya.

A truly superb and stunning vintage jewel.

Burmese Rubies are the best Rubies in the world and the most sought after.

Burmese ruby is the standard by which all other rubies are judged.

The Art Deco period was one of the most creative periods of jewellery manufacture in the 20th century.

The ring itself is very well made and substantial and will last a lifetime.

A tempting, timeless classic  which looks breath taking when worn.
